Let the Children Climb

Climbing Trees

If you have ever had any doubt that humans are related to monkeys all you need to do is watch how very young toddlers scramble and climb, even before they can walk properly.

Climbing, using all our limbs, is a skill which we, like monkeys, are designed for. Enabling young children to develop their climbing skills, safely, is good for their development in many ways.

If children were to design their own outdoor play areas what would they be like? Unlikely. Outdoor play spaces designed by children would be filled with natural elements like trees to climb, gardens to investigate and hide in, water in ponds and streams, mud pools, sand pits, greens and games pitches. They would also be packed with all sorts of outdoor climbing toys, rock walls, rope ladders, climbing frames, treehouses, ladders, swings and slides.

Children need challenges and opportunities to develop their balance, self reliance and confidence. What do many children do when they encounter a climbable tree? They climb it. They jump from its branches. Bolder children will test themselves to see how far they can climb. They may even pester you to attach a Tarzan swing or a rope ladder. If they are lucky enough to have a suitable climbing tree in their garden you may be pressured into building a treehouse.

If you are not lucky enough to have a tree in your back garden you can still fulfil your child’s desire to climb with a well made outdoor climbing toy. Maybe a climbing frame or playset with a rope ladder attached, or even a rock wall.

As children play together outdoors they get the opportunity to develop many skills including their social and psychomotor skills. They will gain familiarity with their physical selves, bodily strength and develop an enthusiasm for healthy outdoor activities.

Is Your Wedding Looking Too Expensive?

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

Most girls dream of their perfect wedding day from a very young age. Aside from talking with their girlfriends about getting married and having lots of girly notions, very few girls give their future wedding very much serious thought. When you get to really organising the event you will find that you simply cannot afford that perfect wedding of your dreams. Inexpensive weddings can be just as great, so don’t be too dissapointed. There is really no need for that very expensive princess diamond wedding ring. A good quality less expensive ring will convey just as much love

When you consider your wedding, there are just two things that are essential, and the rest is unimportant. You need someone to conduct the service, and you both need to be there. Other than that, little else really matters. Many couples have gone on to have a long loving marriage following a lowcost wedding. The key is remembering that the wedding is just one day, but a lifetime comes after. It is the future that is the most important, and not just that single day of fun. A low cost two tone gold wedding ring will make a major savong in your budget, and will not look or feel any different.

Your inexpensive wedding does not have to be that bare bones, but you can think of ways to save money when you have to watch your budget. The no expense spared wedding available to a limited few does not necessarily turn out better than the limited budget version. If anything, the true meaning of the day is somewhat lost amongst all of the trappings that money can buy. It is the love in the air and not the expensive trappings that make low cost weddings such a special day.

If an inexpensive wedding is in your future, you should be just as excited as the bride with the unlimited budget. You shouldn’t give up on what you consider the important items, just focus on reducing the cost of those things that are less essential, or forego them entirely. Use other brides experiences, and search for wedding talk online for money saving hints, and low cost tips. I had one of those inexpensive weddings, and I can tell you that it was every bit as beautiful as the next, and the best part was that I wasn’t in debt for ten years trying to pay it off.
